Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines
EPISCOPAL COMMISSION ON EVANGELIZATION AND CATECHESIS

Nature of the Episcopal Commission
As an Episcopal Commission of the CBCP under the DEPARTMENT OF EVANGELIZATION, the CBCP-ECEC exercises its mandate in communion with the CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE OF THE PHILIPPINE, under the guidance of the CBCP PERMANENT COUNCIL, and in collaboration with Local Churches, Ecclesiastical Provinces, catechetical centers, educational institutions, religious congregations, ecclesial organizations, and other partners engaged in the mission of evangelization and catechesis.
The Commission exists primarily as a ministry of service to the Church in the Philippines. It does not replace any pastoral authority of diocesan bishops nor resume responsibilities proper to Local Churches. Rather, it seeks to strengthen, accompany, coordinate, and support evangelizing and catechetical efforts of Local Churches through leadership, formation, research, consultation, collaboration, and pastoral innovation. Guided by the missionary mandate of Christ and inspired by the vision of a Synodal Church characterized by Communion, Participation, and Mission, the Commission promotes evangelization and catechesis as essential dimensions of the Church's life and mission while respecting the legitimate autonomy, pastoral priorities, and cultural realities of each Local Church.
